World Fans’ Day

“August the 2nd!! Happy Birthday to me!!
August the 2nd, 1982!!
Its the day in Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, after the “Coolie” accident that I lived again. A time when the prayers of hundreds of well wishers and fans, when the diligent and hard work of the doctors at the Hospital, brought me back to life. This is the debt that I shall never be able to pay back and which I talk of so often. I am with you today because of those prayers. Prayers from so many I never knew, never met and probably never shall. But I know that you are there and there in my heart with the greatest of affection and love. I thank you.”

26th July, 1982 was that ‘black’ day in the history of Indian Cinema, when the ‘LIVING LEGEND’ Sri AMITABH BACHCHAN underwent a serious injury on the sets of “COOLIE”. Millions of AMITJI’S fans and followers throughout the world were nerve-wracked and there were no temples, mosques, churches or sacred places left where prayers were not offered for the recovery of the ‘SUPER-ICON’. There were no dearth of blood-donors in front of ‘BREACH CANDY’ hospital in Mumbai where in the queue common men rubbed their shoulders with the elites for the single cause that they were all worshippers of the demigod better known as ‘AMITABH BACHCHAN’. Eventually, all prayers were listened to and the world heaved a sigh of relief on the auspicious “2nd August 1982” when AMITJI came out of “COMA” and virtually got his “REBIRTH”. 2nd August, thus was the most propitious day in the lives of AMITJI’S fans and 2nd August 1982 was observed as ‘VIJAY DIVAS’ by his fans. Now, time has come that we declare 2nd August as “WORLD FANS’ DAY” as it truly marks the triumph of the fans.
